Psalm 114

1 When Isr'el out of Egypt went, when Jacob left a foreign land,
2 then Judah was his* holy home, and he in Isr'el set his throne.

3 The seas beheld and fled away; the Jordan's waters backward turned.
4 The lofty mountains skipped like rams, and all the little hills like lambs.

5 What ailed you that you fled, O sea? O Jordan, that you turned right back?
6 You mountains, that you skipped like rams, and all you little hills, like lambs?

7 O tremble, earth before the Lord, before the face of Jacob's God,
8 who from the rock did waters bring, who made the flint a water-spring!
(also known as Hesperus)

*dangling pronoun maybe to keep us in suspense till vers 7.
